McLaren Vale Florist was established in 1980 by Barbara Semmens, she built the business originally from her home garage and it expanded little by little to become the most popular florist shop in the south and acheived many awards in excellence in wedding flowers.
In 2004 Barbara hired a young lady by the name of Priyan McDonald, Priyan was taught by her co workers all the ins and outs of the floristry trade to become a fantastic florist. Priyan has worked very hard over the last 10 years and recently in September 2014 took over the business. She has many aspirations to mould the business into a dynamic and amazing one stop shop for brides. She also has lived in the local area her whole life and wants to work with all of the local businesses and people to showcase what we can do.
In 1995 Barbara hired another young lady actually her niece Natalie Watson and offered her a traineeship which she completed over a three year period. Natalie won first place in the Interflora Florist of the Year competition in 1999 and continued her career in floristry gaining experience in florist shops in Glenelg, Hyde Park and Torrensville. She has recently come back to McLaren Vale Florist to team up with Priyan and help her make McLaren Vale Florist the best florist in the south once again.
Barbara Semmens still works in the store on a casual basis when we need her expertise which we love, it's great to have her back where she belongs.
We also have many helpers behind the scenes making everything we do achievable.
